Presented is a set of 5 Colonial American coin silver coffee spoons or tea spoons, made by Thomas Grant circa 1760. Thomas Grant was born in 1729 in Marblehead, Massachusetts and died in 1804, likewise in Marblehead. He worked circa 1752-1804, and at the time, Grant was one of only two master silversmiths in Marblehead. His work is very well regarded and some pieces have been preserved in the Museum of Fine Arts as well as the Heritage Foundation and the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities. The fronts of the spoons are monogrammed with what looks like RMH in very ornate script.

Four of the spoons are hallmarked with the maker's mark T. Grant for Thomas Grant, but one spoon is missing the maker's mark because of an old repair.

The spoons are in excellent condition, particularly for their age, minus the one spoon with an old but professionally done repair. This spoon is nonetheless entirely functional and the repair is not something that is easy to notice even while using the spoon, much less if it is only on display.

Dimensions: 5 5/8 inches. Weight: 87.7 grams or 3.09 ounces
