Presented is a gorgeous 1850s American coin silver butter round dish. This piece displays ornate hand chased flowers with birds, butterflies and scrolls. The lid has a crisp applied acorn finial with oak leaves. The inside of the dish has removable pierced draining tray insert.

There are two cartouches on the base of the dish, one has been monogrammed “Fargo”. This piece belonged to William Fargo's family. He started the stagecoach company, and later Wells Fargo Bank.

There are no hallmarks, which is not unusual for American coin silver. This piece has been tested and is guaranteed to be coin silver.

This piece is in excellent overall condition. All pieces fit well together. There are no dents, no breaks, and no repairs.
