1811 English Georgian Sterling Silver Curved Rounded Snuff Box Joseph Willmore

Presented is an antique English Georgian sterling silver snuff box made in Birmingham in 1811. The edges and sides of the box are crafted with rounded corners, and the box is made in a curved, concave form to rest well on the leg when in the pocket. The inside of the box has a gold wash. The hinge of the lid is particularly nice, made in an invisible, flush style that does not protrude when the lid is closed. The inside of the snuff box is hallmarked with a date letter I for the year 1811, the maker's mark JW for Joseph Willmore, a duty mark of King George III's head, and an anchor for the city of Birmingham. The inside of the lid flap is hallmarked with the date letter, the duty mark, and the lion passant for sterling silver. This piece is in good overall condition. One of the rounded corners has a dent (ninth photograph), and the other rounded corners have a few dings (eighth photograph).
