Presented is a lovely pair of pierced English sugar tongs from the 1700s. These tongs displays fabulous pierce-work showing vines and scrolls along both sides of the tongs, and all the way down through the ends. The back has been engraved with fancy scroll decorations, which create a cartouche that has no monogram.

The interior is marked with the English lion passant for sterling silver and the maker's mark. The tongs were made in the 1760s to 1785.

The piece is in good overall condition, especially considering age. There are no monograms, no monogram removals.

The piece has one solder repair to the pierced side, close to the maker's mark. There are no other breaks or repairs.
