12 Antique Art Nouveau Gorham Sterling Silver Versailles Teaspoons

Presented is a great set of 12 Gorham sterling silver teaspoons. These spoons are made in the elegant Versailles pattern, which began production in 1888. This is a beautiful figural pattern, designed by French artist F. Antoine Heller, who designed similarly ornate figural patterns for Gorham like Fontainebleau and Mythologique. The pattern is said to be inspired by the statues and decorations in the Palace of Versailles. The handles feature a classical cherub and lyre, surrounded by intricate scrollwork decoration, all very detailed and quite crisp. The back of the handle has the name Taliaferro in elegant script. These are old production pieces, not from the re-release of the pattern in the early '90s; they have the old Gorham mark and copyright stamp, and all the detail and patina you'd expect. This is a very desirable and collectible pattern, and these pieces are particularly clean and crisp.

These spoons are in great condition. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs. We only lightly hand polished two of the spoons for the purposes of close-up photography, the rest we left as we found them, but they can easily be cleaned up to a nice shine.
Each spoon is stamped with the Gorham maker's mark as well as sterling and copyrighted.

The total weight for the set is 396 grams or 14 regular ounces.
