Presented is a rare antique set of 12 American coin silver coffee or tea spoons made during the late 1700s, approximately 1770 to 1790, by John Gladding Gibbs of Rhode Island. The handles are finely hand engraved with bright cut designs. The front of each handle has an old, original monogram of the initials NP. Each spoon has an engraved number underneath the monogram. The numbers go up to 17, so obviously this was a larger set when first made.

The back of each spoon is marked for John Gladding Gibbs of Rhode Island.

This set is in great condition for its age with only minor surface wear. A few of the bowls do have minor dings that could be hammered out.

Length: 5 7/8 inches.

Weight: 170 grams.
