Presented is a fabulous Gorham sterling silver cheese serving scoop. This piece is made in either the Gilpen or the Fontainebleau pattern, both of which began production in 1880. This piece is undoubtedly from within the first two or three years after the start of production. Both of these patterns feature a variety of motifs, with the same overall shape and style, such that pieces from both patterns will match. The handle of the server has a man holding fruit above his head, while the other side has an array of farming implements. The blade of the server has fine bright-cut designs and a matte finish. The entirety of this piece is sterling silver. This is a rare serving piece, in a hard to find pattern, and represents a great opportunity for any collector.

This piece is in great condition. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The piece is stamped 'sterling' and with the maker's mark for Gorham, as well as copyright.

The cheese scoop is about 9 1/2 inches long.

The cheese scoop weighs 82.9 grams or 2.9 regular ounces.
