Pair Antique Late 18th Century English Sterling Silver Sugar Tongs

Regular price $102.00 $0.00 Unit price per
Presented is a very old pair of English sterling silver sugar tongs made by Walter Tweedie of London during the late 1700s. Although the piece does not have a date letter, Walter Tweedie registered his mark in 1775, so we have an accurate estimation of the age of the tongs. Each arm is finely engraved with simple design and the feet are done in a nice leaf form. The top of the tongs have an old monogram of the initials DWS.

The tongs are marked with the lion passant for sterling silver and a maker’s mark for Walter Tweedie.

This piece is in excellent condition for its age. There is a ting ding to the inside of one arm but there are no other flaws and no repairs.

The tongs measure 5 inches long.

Weight: 32 grams.
