Presented is a lovely Arthur Stone sterling silver serving tray. This piece was made prior to 1937. The tray is oval in form, with a handle on each end. This piece is finely made by hand, with hand pierced openwork designs on the handles and hand chased detailing. The rim of the tray has a monogram of MRM, but the silver is easily thick and heavy enough that this could be removed without damaging the tray.
This piece is in great overall condition. There are a couple of tiny dings here and there, but nothing of any significance in our opinion. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The underside of the tray has the Arthur Stone maker's mark as well as sterling and the initial C for the specific craftsman, likely for David Carlson, Magnus Carlberg, or Edward L. Caron.
The tray measures about 12 by 8 3/4 inches. The useable surface area, inside the rim, is about 8 1/4 by 6 3/4 inches.
The tray weighs 502 grams or 17.7 regular ounces.
