Presented is a beautifully designed and hand crafted silver gravy boat with underplate. This piece has an Arts & Crafts feel to it. It has a very nice hand-hammered finish and a twisted silver-rope rim. The piece has bolted construction between the underplate and the gravy boat. The arms inseparably connect the two pieces, so there seems little reason for the bolt construction. Regardless this is a fine piece, which has never been monogrammed. This was almost certainly made in Continental Europe, between 1880-1920.
The piece is marked on the lower portion of one arm with 900 for the silver purity, a shield-shaped mark, and a compound leaf mark. The leaf mark resembles a small articles mark used in Belgium between 1814 and 1831, but we are not sure if this is the Belgium mark. It is also marked on the upper rim with a French import mark.
The condition is excellent. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The piece measures 7 inches long, 7 1/4 inches across the handles, and 4 1/2 inches tall.
The weight is 9.63 ounces or 272.9 grams.
