Presented is a super quality American coin silver mug or cup. This piece is beautifully hand chased around the body in very pretty flower designs with nice stippled work. The base of the mug and handle have die-rolled and applied decorations. The large center cartouche is engraved with the monogram AAR to FVR.
The piece is unmarked. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be at least 900 or coin silver purity.
The condition is excellent. The handle is in great shape. There may have been a solder repair where the top of the handle meets the body. In the fourth photo, you can see the base's seam line. This is not a crack, it is very stable and this is very likely how the silversmith originally finished the seam. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The mug measures about 4 1/4 inches from handle to rim and 3 1/2 inches tall.
The weight is 100.8 grams or 3.56 ounces.
