Presented is an antique, sterling silver and glass inkwell made by Tiffany & Company during the late 1800s. This 19th century, early Arts & Crafts style piece is a good size and weight. The sterling silver body and lid have a deep gold wash. The lid has an old, original monogram of the name Jean. The rim above the fitted glass insert is done in a lovely, openwork form.
The underside bears the Tiffany & Company sterling silver hallmark used between 1892 and 1902.
This piece is in good overall condition for its age. There is some minor wear to the gilding, as you can see in the photographs. There is a dent to the bottom rim and a small ding to the lid, but there are no other flaws and no repairs.
The diameter of the top rim is 3 3/8 inches, the diameter of the bottom rim is 4 1/2 inches and the inkwell is 2 1/4 inches tall.
