Antique 18th Century European Gold Wash Silver Dragon Head Engraved Cup Mug

Presented is a very interesting, antique continental European cup made during the 1700s or quite possibly even as early as the 1600s. The cup is solid silver, at least 800 purity, and is very heavy for its size. The cup is raised on a pedestal base that screws apart, as you can see in the last photograph below. The cup is completely gilt. There is an engraved grape vine and leaf landscape surrounding slightly raised genre scenes of some cows and children watching birds. The handle is in a terrific dragon head form.

This piece is guaranteed to be at least 800 purity silver.

This piece is in good overall condition considering its old age. The gilding has worn on some of the high spots and the decorations are pretty worn as you can see in the photographs. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits and no repairs.

The cup measures 4 inches in diameter at the top, is 6 3/8 inches tall and weighs 538 grams or 19 ounces.
