Presented is an antique pair of English Georgian, sterling silver sugar cube or small ice tongs made by one of the most well known silversmiths of the 18th century: Hester Bateman. This piece was made around the 1780s or 1790s. The tongs are hand engraved with design and the top has an old, original monogram of the initials WAM. The feet are done in an acorn form. This piece was made during the last quarter of the 1700s.

The inside of the arms are marked with the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of the king's head and Hester Bateman's hallmark.

This piece is in great overall condition.
