Presented is a fine American sterling silver tankard that was most likely made by Tiffany, Gorham, or Whiting. Presented on June 22, 1887, it is beautifully hammered and very heavy. A monogram and inscription are engraved on the side. The bottom was at some point removed and replaced with glass, so there are no hallmarks. This alteration was professionally done, perhaps even at one of the factories. Wonderful style and the best quality.
This piece has been acid tested, and we guarantee that it is made of sterling silver.
The condition is excellent. The glass bottom being the only alteration.
It is 5 3/4 inches high and the diameter including the handle is 5 1/2 inches.
The weight is 597 grams or 20.9 ounces.
