Presented is a fine American sterling silver serving spoon by Crosby, Morse & Foss. This company operated in Boston, Massachusetts in the 1850s to approximately 1875. The spoon is hand-engraved and is 925 purity. The handle is beautifully engraved, and the bowl is engraved with grapes.
The spoon is hallmarked on the reverse with a maker’s mark for Crosby, Morse & Foss, and 925, representing sterling silver.
The condition is excellent. There has probably been a monogram removal on the front cartouche which was well done and is very hard to notice. There is also some surface wear commensurate with age and light use, but this is very minor. There are no dents, no dings, no splits, no breaks and no repairs.
The spoon is 9 1/4 inches long.
The weight is 104grams or 3.3 ounces.
