Presented is a fine English sterling silver tray or salver by the well-regarded London silversmith John Schofield. The tray is raised on three feet and decorated with beaded trim on the feet and the rim. The tray is engraved with a nice armorial crest at the center. A nice size and useful tray, a little larger than most card trays.

The tray is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head crowned for London, the date letter “d” for 1779, and a maker’s mark of IS for John Scofield.

The engraving at the center of the tray is quite worn, but otherwise the condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.

The tray measures 7 inches in diameter and 7/8 inch tall.

The weight is 248.3 grams or 8.7 ounces.
