Presented is a charming English Georgian sterling silver vinaigrette box made by Thomas Willmore. The oval shaped box has a simple smooth finish design on the exterior. The interior is covered with a nice gold wash and fitted with a hinged pierced liner.

The vinaigrette is hallmarked on the interior with the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the city of Birmingham, the date letter ‘a’ for 1798, the duty mark of King George III’s head, and the maker’s mark of TW for Thomas Willmore.

The condition is very good. There is one dent on one of the short sides of the oval. There is also a split to the cover on the short side of the oval. Both of these imperfections are visible in the photographs. Both could also be repaired without much trouble. There are no other dents, no other splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The vinaigrette measures 7/8 inch by 1 1/4 inches by 1/2 inch.

The weight is 14.2 grams or 0.5 ounces.
