Presented is an old, English sterling silver soup or punch ladle made by William Eley & William Fearn of London in 1797. Eley & Fearn are two of the most well-known London silversmiths during the turn of the 18th/19th century. The long, rounded handle has classical bright cut engravings down the center in a bell-flower sort of form.

The back is marked with the crowned leopard’s head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of King George III’s head, a date letter B for the year 1797 and a maker’s mark for William Eley and William Fearn.

This piece is in great overall condition for its age. There is some wear to the bowl commensurate with age and use. There are no breaks, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.

The ladle measures 12 1/2 inches long and weighs 175 grams or 6.2 ounces.
