Presented is a nice old figural silver spoon from Continental Europe. The spoon depicts a man in old fashion dress with a three-cornered hat or turban, full sleeves, and a full twisted cloth belt. He has long flowing hair done in elaborate curls. In his left hand he grips a hilt of his sword, which swings from his belt and in his right hand he holds up a tall rifle. A kind ebayer has informed us that this is likely Peter the Great. The back of the spoon is beautifully engraved with a pretty ribbed border, scrollwork and hand stippling around a cartouche with a cross and four fleur-de-lis inside it. The spoon was likely made in Germany or the Netherlands in the 1700s or early 1800s.

The spoon is marked on the back of the spoon with 2 old hallmarks. They are faded and poorly struck, so we are not able to make them out. The spoon has been tested with nitric acid and we guarantee it to be at least 800, possibly as high as 900.

The condition is excellent. The spoon is worn in places, especially to the front middle of the handle. Many of the details on the figure are still intact, and the engraving is in great shape. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The spoon measures 6 1/2 inches long.

The spoon weighs 1.53 ounces or 43.4 grams.
